After the Week I've Had...

Do you believe in bad luck? As a general rule of living in reality I don't believe in luck. I'm not a superstitious person, never have been, never plan to be. However, after my week of kitchen episodes I'm wondering if perhaps I cracked a mirror or walked under a ladder and just didn't notice. Last Thursday we had gas leak in the kitchen. We noticed it right away and were able to get of the house with the boys and call a gas technician. Everything is fine, just a random "fluke," or so I thought. Then on Monday, I needed some extra counter space and decided to put a pan in the oven - the pan had a plastic lid on it - and of course, I preheated the oven for dinner without remembering to remove it. More airing out of the house and lots of melted plastic clean-up work for my wonderful husband (thanks honey). Tuesday roles around and I'm loading the dishwasher. Harmless, right? WRONG! As I'm closing the dishwasher I hear a loud shattering noise and open the door to find shards of glass everywhere. What went wrong? No idea, just the lid to my favorite cooking pot busted. Finally, today I'm fixing this really wonderful chicken and vegie soup (my fave on cold days like today), and suddenly the vent from the microwave, which sits above the stove, just falls into my soup. Are you kidding me?!? So, what is going on? Is it just my pregnancy clumsiness kicking in, or something a little less obvious? You tell me. Anyway, just thought I'd share my week of mishaps. Enjoy the pictures. Just London today. I'll post more later. Oh, did I mention that I cracked a bowl in the microwave yesterday, and yes it was microwavable. Nice.

My happy London right after his bath.

Love that smile!

...Allergies...UGH!

I know that many of you are aware of Fisher's many food allergies and I often get asked a lot of questions regarding how severe they are, what his symptoms are like, etc. So today I thought I would give you a little glimpse. Last night we had small group and had a really great time hanging out with our friends. Of course, whenever you have any type of church gathering you have to have snacks, most of which Fisher is unable to eat. This is rarely a problem. We have learned to pack "Fisher Friendly Food" wherever we go, and I certainly did not think we would have a problem considering that last night small group was at our own house. WRONG! Everyone was on their way out the door and I was cleaning up in the kitchen. Fisher started "helping" me by picking up some things from the table. What a sweet little guy! Anyway, I was working on the dishes and noticed out of the corner of my eye that he was picking up angel food cake - loaded with eggs! Now remember, at this point he is only touching the cake, NOT eating it. So I removed him and proceeded to wash his arms, hands, face, etc. He proceeded to break out in hives all over his face, neck and arms, and then he had an asthma attack. So we did the drill: grabbed the Benedryl, inhalers, breathing mask, and epipen - just in case. Fortunately, last night was a mild episode, so he only needed one round of albuterol and a single dose of Benedryl. I know that God has blessed me with such amazing children. I also know that God is challeging me every single day with Fisher's allergies. If I think about it too long, the fear and worry can can absolutely consume me. So, I often find myself reciting this verse:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

We're Back....

So, I decided to take a little "blogger-break".....for seven months.....but I think I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. I'm not even sure where to begin, so here's a brief update for everyone, and a funny Christmas story for those of you that are interested:

Paul - Yeah! Paul made a GREAT score on his GRE and was accepted into Lubbock Christian University's Graduate Family Ministry Program. He is so excited to go back to school (no, I'm not kidding).
Feydra - Yeah! We are expecting baby #3! I'm almost 15 wks along, and baby looks healthy. Please continue to pray for our growing family, and our precious miracle; specifically that baby is HEALTHY and continues to develop normally, and that the big brothers will love their new baby.
Fisher - What a little smarty pants! He's got his colors, shapes and letters down. Now we're just working on numbers...and keeping all of our clothes on throughout the day.
London - BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! Constantly on the move and more opinionated than ever now that he's starting to form sentences "Mommy, book read, you!"

And here's the fun little Christmas story I promised:

We had a wonderful Christmas with our family in Abilene. The boys got absolutely spoiled with love, attention, and of course presents. Oh, and the one thing on Fisher's Christmas list this year, are you ready? A Diving Suit. I know, that's the face I made too. Anyway, he saw Santa twice this year and each time he sat on his lap and the big questioned came up, "So, what do you want for Christmas this year little boy?" the response left Santa looking a little bewildered and Paul and me a little nervous. Let's not forget the all-too-important piece of this great mystery...how in the world was Santa going to find an afordable diving suit for a three-year-old?!?! Fortunately I was able to do a little detective work - for Santa, of course - on craigslist. Unfortunately, Paul was too busy playing with one of his Christmas presents to take a picture of Fisher frantically taking off his pajamas so that he could try on his new diving suit. So I guess these will have to suffice for now.
**Blogger is inserting all of my horizontal pics vertically, and I can't get them to rotate, so I'll just have to download them another day. Sorry!
