...Allergies...UGH!

I know that many of you are aware of Fisher's many food allergies and I often get asked a lot of questions regarding how severe they are, what his symptoms are like, etc. So today I thought I would give you a little glimpse. Last night we had small group and had a really great time hanging out with our friends. Of course, whenever you have any type of church gathering you have to have snacks, most of which Fisher is unable to eat. This is rarely a problem. We have learned to pack "Fisher Friendly Food" wherever we go, and I certainly did not think we would have a problem considering that last night small group was at our own house. WRONG! Everyone was on their way out the door and I was cleaning up in the kitchen. Fisher started "helping" me by picking up some things from the table. What a sweet little guy! Anyway, I was working on the dishes and noticed out of the corner of my eye that he was picking up angel food cake - loaded with eggs! Now remember, at this point he is only touching the cake, NOT eating it. So I removed him and proceeded to wash his arms, hands, face, etc. He proceeded to break out in hives all over his face, neck and arms, and then he had an asthma attack. So we did the drill: grabbed the Benedryl, inhalers, breathing mask, and epipen - just in case. Fortunately, last night was a mild episode, so he only needed one round of albuterol and a single dose of Benedryl. I know that God has blessed me with such amazing children. I also know that God is challeging me every single day with Fisher's allergies. If I think about it too long, the fear and worry can can absolutely consume me. So, I often find myself reciting this verse:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
